Data collected

None. The app collects, transmits and sells no data:

• no user account, no sign-up;
• no server connection: all calculations run on the device;
• no advertising trackers or analytics tools;
• no access to contacts, location or microphone;
• the camera is used to scan pipe markings (Material traceability tool), on demand: the image is analysed on the device, never stored or transmitted;
• the photos you attach to a test (Completed tests directory), taken with the camera or chosen from the gallery, stay on the device and only leave it if you share them.

Data kept on the device

Your preferences and records are stored locally only: language, units, theme, active piping standard, welding reference settings, measured speeds, customised quick access, jobs, calculation history, scanned pipes, ISO drawings, marked-out welds, tests and their photos.

They never leave the device and are deleted when the app is uninstalled.

Permissions

WeldUp Pocket asks for three permissions, all optional:

• the camera, for marking scan (Material traceability) — reading is continuous, no photo is taken; the image is analysed on the device and discarded — and to photograph a test, if you ask for it;
• photos, only to attach an image you have already taken to a test;
• notifications, on Android only, to flag a new version that has not been opened yet, once per version — the notification is prepared on the device, with no server, and can be switched off in the app Settings (“Notify about new versions”).

Refusing any of them stops nothing else from working. Neither internet nor location is required.

On Android, the app may also, without asking, re-arm that reminder when the phone restarts (this is the run-at-startup permission Google Play displays), for as long as a new version is waiting to be opened; nothing else runs at startup.

WeldUp Pro subscription

The subscription is taken out and paid for through the App Store or Google Play: payment and your account stay with Apple or Google, under their terms. From the store the app receives only the subscription status — the plan and the end of the period — which it keeps on the device so it works offline; nothing is sent to WeldUp.

If you subscribe and notifications are allowed, you may get a single reminder, prepared on the device: after three weeks without a connection, open the app once while online so the subscription can be checked.

Liability

WeldUp Pocket is a calculation aid for qualified professionals. The values provided are indicative and replace neither the applicable codes, nor qualified welding procedures (WPS/PQR), nor the instructions of the engineering office. The user remains solely responsible for checking results before any execution.
